Meydan Central Plant
The unique feature of this plant is its scalablity due to associated electro-mechanical modules and that it has a split arrangement which allows the plant to operate as a single 45,000TR plant or as two (2) independent plants. This proved to be useful for the client during the economic crisis in 2008 as it allowed them to reduce their total investment to more effectively match their available load. The final installed capacity is 25,000TR including thermal energy storage, which all went up in nine (9) months. The building foot print was 90m x 60m and required no basement.

Low ΔT Syndrome Correction
This issue is a major pain for the chilled water systems globally as it is the root cause of poor energy efficiency and comfort, as is evident in the presentation below. This is primarily brought about by poor control valve, cooling coil selection, control logic and hydronic system layout. OS has developed a dynamic solution that not only provides true pressure independent operation and flow limiting but also corrects ΔT in real time along with providing energy metering and billing capability to the building owners and operators should they require it.

ITCC District Plant
This project has a capacity of 35,000TR including two (2) very large TES tanks, which are right next to the development's primary sub station. As part of the HAZOP analysis for the project a CFD model was created to assess the worst case scenario if both tanks collapsed. Subsequent to this containment solutions were generated to mitigate the flooding of the surrounding areas and ensure protection of the substation.

Marafiq Taiba District Cooling System
This project is a part of the efficiency enhancement project planned by Saudi Tabreed for the city of Medina, where existing cooling by local air cooled plants will be replaced by a connection to a water cooled district cooling system. In order to reduce the cost and complexity of installing the reticulation necessary for this project a 14 degree delta T system was created for Saudi Tabreed. This system incorporates cascading chiller sets with an intermediary thermal energy storage/buffer tank. Although technically feasible the terminal unit performance and control valve changes needs to be factored. Developments are still ongoing. |
Social & Environmental Support
Keeping the direction ever forward Ocyana Solutions has taken a direct investment into a 80 hectare farm in South Africa (Tygerkloof, Eastern Cape) for a social development project to deliver 5MW of solar PV plus 5MW wind along with housing and aloe farming under the small power IPP projects offered by Eskom.
